Not Droitwich Road but Barbourne Road opposite Talbot pub. Date says April 1963 but could be earlier as snow is evident. Building with advert poster advertising milk "Drinka Winta Pinta". The shop under poster was a fruit and veg shop and used to win prizes for window dressing. Building materials look as if they are for building the garage on the old Spreckleys Brewery sight. New build originally built as Richmond Garages, a VW distributor. Later became the showroom for Colmore Depot after they vacated their showroom in Angel Street. Now a Kwik Fit depot. The filling station part adjacent finished about 15 years ago and is now waste ground and cannot easily be used owing to leakage from fuel tanks when a filling station

Sports pavillion in distance which could be Heenans sports ground. The photo clearly shows the road at this time being what was known as a "suicide" road. A three lane road where the centre lane was shared for overtaking by both south and north trafic

Droitwich Road east side on the corner of Crown Street. Date 31 July 1951. Frosts cycle shop on corner before they moved to Upper Tything. Advert for BSA cycles sales and sevice. Next on left is St Stephens garage. Advertising hoardings for .................... Next along is Harry Homer's gents hairdresser and tobacconist. Site demolished in 1970s and now the site of a filling station

Bakery in Droitwich Road 31 July 1951. Opposite St Stephens Church on the corner of Alma Street and Droitwich Road. Used to make fantastic bread and cakes. Entrance into the shop area was via the hallway of the house and then first door on the right. Used to be very popular on Saturday mornings. Used to continually bake hot cross buns on Good Friday with the queues stretching several yards along Droitwich Road. They also did a roaring trade in sale of yeast during the bread strikes in the 1970s. Their products were probably the best ever. Shed a little tear when they closed up for the premises to become of all things a children's day nursery

Price Brothers butchers shop 31 July 1951. Shop on corner of Crown Street and Droitwich Road Midland Red timetable on wall adjacent to window. Bus stop on right just out of view. One of the brothers was Peter Price who was well known in Worcseter's amateur boxing clubs

Garage in Droitwich Road on east side. Dated 1951. This appears to be near the junction with Bilford Road and is where the Hi Q tyre and exhaust retailer is now. Garage owned by Downes Worcester Ltd. Looks like some form of construction at rear - probably a workshop being built. Shell petrol sign.
