John - where does this come from?

The building on the corner of Carden St and Talbot Street used to be the Union Inn public house. The Weetabix van is emerging from Portland Place

Another view of Northwall House before restoration in the mid-1990s got it back on track

The building is Northwall House apparently 'an 18th-century property with a 19th century Gothic-style faced. In the early 1900s when it was Worcester Grammar School for Girls before being converted into a private house. However, after it fell empty in 1985 the Grade II building deteriorated badly, squatters moved in and with parts of the roof gone it was open to the weather. Fortunately a major private restoration programme in the mid-1990s got it back on track'....courtesy WEN

There is a report in the Evening News of somebody who was trained as a wheelwright for the City Corporation. His job was making and repairing wooden spoked wheels for horse drawn/ horse powered street cleaning wagons, consisting of a rotating brush mounted onto a 2-wheeled/ one horse carriage.

This photo is indeed the Corporation Yard. It was positioned on the corner of the quay and Dolday and so is not strictly speaking on The Butts.
This cobbled area appeared to have space for wagons and stables for horses. The Corporation Yard was later relocated to the site of the old timber yard on the Butts and was used for many years after.

Immediately in front of the white 'Watermans Church' is a small single level building acting as a Sunday school. This wooden building was actually the original floating chapel that got floated during a flood c1859 onto the site of the old derelict St Clements churchyard and used as a schoolroom. The site of the old St Clements church was then rebuilt out of corrugated iron and wood and renamed the 'Watermans Church' or Mission Church. St Clements was then rebuilt as a C of E church in Henwick Road.
To the right of the church, facing the quay is the Worcester Corporation yard, containing space for wagons and stables for horses.

Note: No.1 Court entrance provided access to the rear of Talbot Street Houses. Further down South Street after a low level is another Alley entrance for No.2 Court (sign just visible above the gate). This gateway also led to a small court.
